Clutch
All of us posed together And we stood grinning side by side Your arm over my shoulders My arm behind your back. And... did I clutch, with my whole fist, a clump of your shirt? I think I did, I remember with a smile :) The camera sure didn't capture that, Except maybe in my eyes. And in that clutch I held my heart that ached for you And all the words that couldn't somehow unjumble enough To tell you How much I loved being with you That every smile you bestowed on me was a gift That every one of our conversations was a lifeline. Did you probably read all of that, and still decide to toy on? I'd like to believe so, To comfort my sorry heart In your vilification.
